Radish Cutlets

Radish as well its leaves are attributed with a number of nutritional benefits.The root and the leaves contain vitamin C, Calcium, Proteins, Zinc, B-complex, Phosphorous etc. It assists in digestion due to roughage and water content; it is used in treatment of kidney (as a natural diuretic), skin disorders and insect bites; it helps in fighting cancer, jaundice and relieving congestion of the respiratory system, etc.
 
Here is an interesting recipe for preparing delectable radish cutlets

 INGREDIENTS
 
1. Radish                                 :   500 gms
 
2. Wheat flour                       :  100 gms
 
3. Gram flour                          : 100 gms
 
4. Carom seeds (Ajwain)       : 1 tsp
 
5. Salt: to taste
 
6. Red chilli powder               : 1 tsp
 
7. Fresh coriander leaves      : a bunch
    (finely chopped)
 
8. Oil                                          : for frying
 



METHOD
Grate radish and keep aside. Heat two tbsp oil in a non-stick wok and roast wheat and gram flour together till light brown. Squeeze the grated radish and add the roasted wheat and gram flour, carom seeds,salt, red chilli powder andcoriander leaves. Mix well and make a dough. Prepare cutlets/rolls and steam for 20-25 minutes, turning sides. Once cold, slice lengthwise. Deep fry and serve hot with sauce or chutney.
