Translation
One should bathe
in the place of pilgrimage of His liking; otherwise, these are empty rituals. This
visible universe is the creation of the Lord and no one finds fulfilment here without
His grace. The mind displays qualities of invaluable gems, jewels and rubies, if
one heeds to the instructions of the Guru. The Guru has taught one lesson that
the Lord, the provider of the bounty of this life, should never be forgotten.

Translation
Even if one lives for four
ages or ten times more; one is known all through the nine continents and enjoys
universal following; and one has a good name, reputation and the whole world
sings their praises. Still no one bothers about such a person if they are not
blessed with a glance from the Lord. One would be considered the lowliest of
worm among worms and held in contempt even by the most contemptible sinners
despite all the grandeur and fame. Guru Nanakdevji says that only the Lord can
make unworthy persons worthy and grant virtues to the virtuous. The Guru says
that he can think of no one but the Lord who can bestow these qualities.
